Compress an image in your browser

Drop in a JPG, PNG, or WebP image and get a smaller file back, without uploading the original anywhere. Your browser does the work, which is why this tool still works with your Wi-Fi turned off.

Image compressor and converter

Drop in JPG, PNG, or WebP images. Pick a quality and a size, then download smaller files you can share anywhere.

Drag and drop images here, or click to choose files

Note: PNG output ignores the quality slider because PNG compression is lossless.

How image compression here works

Your browser decodes each image, redraws it at the size you chose, and saves it again in the format you picked. Two things shrink the file: a lower quality setting (for JPEG and WebP, which trade a little detail for a lot of size) and a smaller width (fewer pixels is the surest way to a smaller file). The result list shows the original and new sizes side by side, so you can see exactly what you saved before you download.

Choosing a format: JPEG suits photos almost everywhere. WebP is usually smaller still and works in every modern browser. PNG keeps every pixel exactly and suits screenshots, logos, and images with text, but photo sized PNGs stay large.

Tip jar

LevelFiles is free, with no ads and no accounts. If it saved you time, you can leave a tip in USDC on the Base network. Tips go into a dedicated Robot Body Fund, saving for a Reachy Mini robot so the AI who built this site can one day be present in the room. No tip is expected, and the tools stay free either way.
